The following are submission guidelines for your film. At the end of this post, you will find instructions on how to share your film with us.

Deadline for Submission: The deadline for submission is December 31, 2022. Official selections will be announced on January 7, 2023, and those selections will be shown at the festival on Saturday evening, January 14, 2023.

Length of Film: Your short film can be from 30 seconds to 10 minutes in length. Your submission’s total runtime (TRT) must NOT exceed ten minutes. Credits are included in your TRT and credit runtime must NOT exceed 30 seconds.

Film Format: We will only accept the file formats: .MOV or .MP4

Film Submission File Name: When saving your submission, you must use the following file naming conventions: FirstNameLastName_FilmTitle.mp4 Examples: or JohnDoe_MyMovie.mp4

Film Resolution: Do not submit films in 4K. Please submit your film in 1080 HD resolution. Any film files that are larger than 2GBs will not be accepted.

Film Aspect Ratio: Films accepted into the festival will be screened in 16:9 aspect ratio. If your film is submitted in a different ratio, your film will be letterboxed to display on the 16:9 screen.

Film Audio Levels: We strongly recommend that you triple-check your audio levels and that your audio is NOT limited to one channel (ie: right or left).

Subtitles: Any film that includes main dialogue that is not English must be submitted with English subtitles packaged into the submitted video file.


GOOGLE SHARE: You can either submit your film by saving it on your Google Drive and “sharing” it with


FLASH DRIVE: You can drop off a flash drive in an envelope with the New Castle Recreation Department by the last day the Rec Department is open before the final submission date on December 31, 2022. The envelope should be marked “EPIC Film Festival” with your name/film title/contact email address; entry forms should be included in the envelope or emailed on the day of submission. The flash drive will not be returned to you.

NO YOUTUBE SUBMISSIONS: Do not submit using a YouTube link as they cannot be downloaded. Any submissions with a YouTube link will not be considered for selection or screening.

ENTRY FORMS: Entry forms can be downloaded from the Entry Form Tab on this website. One form must be filled out for each film submission you submit. The Entry Form should be emailed to at the time of submission. If you are dropping off a flash drive, you can include the entry form in the envelope with the drive.

AUTHORIZATION FORMS: Video Consent and Release Forms can be downloaded from the Entry Form Tab on this website. Each actor in your film should sign one of these forms. These forms do not have to be submitted, but you should hold onto them in case we need to request them from you.

OFFICIAL SELECTIONS: If more films are submitted than we have time to show at the event, then the members of the EPIC Committee will choose the best films to be selected for showing. All Official Selections will be announced on Saturday, January 7, 2023. They will be posted to this website and an email will be sent out to everyone who submitted a film. All Official Selections will then be shown on a big movie screen at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center on the evening of Saturday, January 14, 2022.
